Dear Larner Community,

As we move into the summer months and, I hope, more sunshine than rain, I want to express my gratitude to the entire Larner community–students, faculty and staff—for all you have done this academic year. I am so proud of our missions, our people, and our impact on our community and beyond.

It is quieter now, at least on campus. I find comfort in the predictable cycle of our College. We graduated our medical and graduate students last month and this month we welcome a new class of interns. Soon thereafter, our newest medical and graduate students will arrive on campus, filling the halls and adding renewed energy to replace the quieter days of summer.

While these events follow a traditional pattern, current issues of federal funding make the future far less predictable. In times of change, I encourage us all to embrace our core values and central missions, as we educate the next generation, advance science to maximize health, and provide clinical care to the communities we serve.

These times also give us an opportunity to chart our own path. Vision 2025, our strategic plan, was created five years ago, and we are now in our final year. This summer we will begin developing our next five-year strategic plan. I look forward to hearing from all of you as we assess who we are, what we do and where we want to go. By January, Vision 2030 will be our roadmap to the future.

In the coming months, I hope you have time to enjoy the amazing beauty here at home and perhaps travel with friends and loved ones. You deserve some time to relax, and I hope you can reflect on the positive impact you have here at Larner every day. Thanks again for all you do. Please enjoy the summer months as we prepare for the exciting year ahead.

Warmest Regards,

Richard L. Page, M.D.

Dean
