Lisa Belisle, M.D.’96, M.P.H., M.B.A, Ph.D. is a Larner alumnus, physician executive, Medical Director at Ovatient, speaker and writer, podcast host, communication coach and consultant.

In the following blog post, she reflects on the legacy of her father, Dr. Charles “Charlie” Belisle, a 1971 graduate of The Larner College of Medicine, who inspired her own professional journey, as well as two more sisters (Drs. Amy and Adelle Belisle, both UVM medical school graduates), one brother, multiple in-laws, and the author’s son to choose medicine as their profession.

The Power of Collaboration

So much of Vermont’s agricultural industry depends on the labor of migrant workers. These workers make up the fabric of our community and yet during the COVID-19 pandemic they are some of the most at-risk and hardest to reach populations. Given the long list of barriers that may dissuade migrant workers from accessing health services and particularly the COVID-19 vaccine, vaccine hesitancy among migrant workers can easily intensify.
