Dear Larner Community,
As we have already had significant snowfall, there is no denying that winter is upon us, and the holiday season is near. Each year, the seasons seem to arrive more quickly, and I welcome the brisk weather and the accompanying gatherings and traditions.
As you gather with friends and loved ones during this season of gratitude and reflection, I invite you to pause and consider our shared journey over the past year. While higher education, research, and health care continue to face challenges, we have also celebrated remarkable achievements. Just this autumn we learned that Larner alumna, Imelda Mueller, ’17 was named a NASA astronaut candidate. Another alumna, Maureen Phipps, ’94 and our newest department chair, Peter Calabresi, were elected to the National Academy of Medicine.
Even more important than these extraordinary accomplishments is the work happening here at our College. You are providing outstanding care to the patients in our region, making discoveries that will improve health and save lives, and preparing the next generation of physicians and biomedical scientists to make the world a better place. I am continually inspired by the way you – the Larner community – uphold our core values and apply them to our noble missions. I am deeply grateful for the compassion, excellence, and resilience you bring to our College every day.
May this season renew our sense of purpose and possibility. I wish you a holiday season filled with joy and meaningful time with loved ones.
Warmest Regards,

Richard L. Page, M.D.
Dean
